Welcome from the Title I Math and Reading Specialists!

Welcome back to a new school year at Loch Lomond Elementary, a Title I school!  The Title I Specialists would like to tell you about our roles here and what the Title I program means to you, your child, and our school.

Title I is a federal assistance program that supports schools in meeting their students’ academic needs. The Title I program provides us with additional educational funding, so Loch Lomond Elementary is able to have Ms. Orsborn a full time math resource teacher, Mrs. Shaffstall a part-time math resource teacher and Mrs. Martinez-Rigg a reading resource teacher. We work in classrooms with teachers and students to help all children master Prince William County objectives and the Virginia Standards of Learning.  In addition, Title I funds are used for educational materials and programs that help support our students as they become proficient and confident learners.

The Title I specialists at Loch Lomond Elementary work together with teachers and parents to share ideas and provide educational support.  Parents are invited to participate in our annual Title I Parent Meeting to learn more about the program and give ideas that will help us compose our Home-School Compact. Please look for upcoming information on this important event. We look forward to meeting and working with you and your children this year!
